Forbes Taps Locus Agricultural Solutions CEO for Insights on How Microbes are Transforming Farming
Industry expert Paul Zorner to present on productivity and sustainability at the Forbes 2019 AgTech Summit in Indianapolis
- Summit to focus on the Future of Food, animal health, soybeans, agricultural biotechnology and more
- Dr. Zorner will share insights on microbial use and new data demonstrating higher crop yields and increased soil carbon sequestration
- Future of Microbes panel starts at 11:40 a.m. ET on September 19, 2019
SOLON, Ohio (September 17, 2019) With more than 40 years of global experience applying novel technology to microbial and conventional agriculture, Locus Agricultural Solutions’ (Locus AG) CEO Dr. Paul Zorner has been invited by Forbes to discuss the Future of Microbes at its 2019 AgTech Summit this Thursday.
Dr. Zorner was selected based on his expertise in the importance of soil health and the benefits of agricultural microbes as a regenerative growing method that maximizes crop yields, improves the nutritional content of food and provides economic stability to rural communities. He will share insights on best practices for biological products and present new data on how farmers are using microbes to produce more food and better manage nutrients while amplifying the ability of the crop–root microbiome complex to sequester record amounts of carbon in soil.
“The Forbes AgTech Summit showcases cutting-edge innovations that can address food security and global warming and the day-to-day challenges facing the AG industry. Dr. Zorner’s expertise makes him an excellent addition to a panel that will educate the audience on the increasing importance of microbe technology in agriculture,” said AlexKnapp, science editor at Forbes and the panel’s moderator.
Locus AG is at the forefront of the microbials-in-agriculture trend. The company develops fresh, customized soil “probiotics” that boost plant productivity by up to 43% and soils’ ability to sequester up to 8.6 additional metric tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) equivalents per acre when compared to grower practices.
“By improving soil health, we are meeting crop yield, nutrient use and carbon footprint challenges,” Dr. Zorner said. “Biological products are key to successfully managing these. We applaud Forbes for providing a forum to demonstrate the natural and sustainable microbial tools that are achieving desired results.”
While microbes were the first living things on earth, their use in agriculture is relatively new. Recent advancements from companies like Locus AG that solve production limitations and inconsistencies are driving adoption and agronomic productivity.
“Using an innovative microbrewery-type fermentation process, we’ve found a way to deliver fresh, customized solutions to growers that are cost-effective and easy to use.Their rapid productivity gains and sustainability results can’t be matched,” Zorner said.
In its second year, the Forbes AgTech Summit in Indianapolis highlights innovative agriculture technologies that are helping to reduce economic losses and environmental impacts. Having a panel on how the industry is using microbes that have untapped potential underscores their importance in addressing critical challenges affecting the world’s food supply.
The Future of Microbes panel will start at 11:40 a.m. on Thursday, September 19. For more information on the Forbes AgTech Summit, visit the conference site. For more information on Locus AG’s microbial technology and its results on more than 40,000 agricultural acres, visit LocusAG.com.
