Experts Predict Higher 2025 Row Crop Yields with Newly Released Biologicals
Trial results validate recently launched foliar, inoculant and box-applied biologicals are setting row crop farmers up for major productivity gains this season
SOLON, Ohio (January 21, 2025) –Row crop farmers, distributors and retailers across the US are preparing for a strong 2025 growing season with the release of new biological treatment programs proven to maximize yields. Rigorous third-party trials have confirmed significant productivity boosts in key crops such as corn, soybeans, cotton and wheat using the foliar, inoculant and box-applied biologicals treatments, which were developed by Locus Agriculture (Locus AG).
The newly released biological products include:
- Bombigro™: a powerful foliar-applied biological for extra yield boosts
- Rhizolizer® Prime Soybean Inoculant System: a premium all-liquid inoculant seed treatment
- Inocuprime™: a foundational liquid inoculant for on-farm treatments
- Two crop-specific Rhizolizer® Duo Box Applied biologicals for wheat and cereals, and perennial grasses
The USA-made biologicals are available through leading ag retailers nationwide and are already proving their value on farms across the country.
Introducing Bombigro™: One of the Industry’s First Foliar-Applied Yield Boosters
Bombigro is a foliar-applied biological product that enhances photosynthesis and crop vigor for higher yields. Developed through a unique fermentation process, Bombigro contains organic acids and yeast metabolites such as sophorolipid biosurfactants. The novel formulation delivers fast-acting benefits when absorbed through leaf surfaces. Trials confirm Bombigro delivers consistent, measurable yield increases as a standalone treatment:
- 10 bushels per acre in corn (5.9%)
- 3.4 bushels per acre in soybeans (6.5%)
- 5 bushels per acre in wheat (6%)
- 71.6 pounds per acre in cotton (9.1%)
- 2,495 pounds per acre in potatoes (7.4%)
When paired with Locus AG’s Rhizolizer biologicals, results are amplified—with corn yields increasing by 14.1 bushels per acre (7.2%), soybeans by 7.5 bushels per acre (13.8%), wheat by 8.4 bushels per acre (10.1%) and potatoes by 6,308 pounds per acre (13.1%).
“Bombigro is a highly effective option for growers looking to extract more value from their input programs,” said Dave Dyson, lead agronomist at Locus AG. “It works exceptionally well on its own but offers even greater results when integrated into a full biological treatment program customized by crop.”
In a big advancement, Bombigro has also been officially put on Corteva’s list of compatible products for tank mix with Enlist and Enlist Duo.
Simplistic and Premium: New Liquid Inoculants Meet Varying Legume Needs
Locus AG is also introducing two liquid inoculant options to meet the varying needs of soybean and peanut growers:
- Inocuprime: A foundational microbial inoculant for on-farm treatments. Inocuprime is powered by Rhizobia and promotes the formation of nitrogen-fixing nodules. It is an accessible, simplistic option for peanuts and soybeans.
- Rhizolizer Prime Soybean Inoculant System: A premium, all-liquid solution for seed treaters. The superior system combines Rhizobia with high CFU counts of vital endophytic microbial strains, including Trichoderma and Bacillus, plus a liquid extender. It is designed to maximize nitrogen fixation and yield potential in soybeans.
Both liquid inoculants provide growers with sustainable nitrogen solutions and are compatible with other Locus AG biologicals for enhanced performance.
“Legumes need more nitrogen than other crops, such as corn. With the help of our nitrogen-fixing Rhizobia strains, the plants can produce most of their nitrogen needs from the air,” Dyson said.
Rhizolizer Duo Box Applied Biologicals Expanded to Wheat, Cereals and Grasses
The Rhizolizer Duo row crop lineup now includes box-applied biologicals tailored for wheat, cereals and perennial grasses. These products feature dual endophytic microbial strains (Trichoderma and Bacillus) that work synergistically. They are designed for ease of application in hopper boxes to improve crop performance.
Multi-year contract research organization (CRO) trials on Rhizolizer Duo for Wheat and Cereals show an average 4.6-bushel per acre yield increase (7.1%).
The new biologicals join Locus AG’s extensive Rhizolizer product line for row crops and specialty crops, along with the recently launched Unpac biological for soil compaction.
Farmers Set for Success: Yield Gains Backed by 95% Confidence in Trials
All Locus AG products are backed by independent, third-party CRO trials that are randomized and replicated four times. These trials confirm statistically significant results across more than eight row crops. The data provides farmers with a 95% or higher confidence rate that the biologicals will deliver the expected yield increases and strong returns on investment.
According to this third-party data, the newly introduced biologicals are setting the stage for a record-breaking 2025 growing season.
“The biologicals market is crowded, but not all products are created equal,” Dyson added. “The independent trials demonstrate that combining Locus AG’s high-quality biologicals into a complete, crop-specific treatment program delivers unparalleled results. Farmers can confidently rely on our third-party-validated data to make the best decisions for their operations.”
All products in the 2025 lineup are available now and being used successfully by row crop farmers across the US. Growers and distributors are encouraged to contact their local Locus AG representative or visit LocusAG.com to learn more and explore trial data.
